Easy and useful hack to use mobile with broken display..

   After a long break, we are here with a new and interesting article. Which everyone needs. Well, Title it and self says that this article is about the broken display of mobile phones.

 

 

   Actually a few months back I had an accident and got broken my mobile display. The right edge of the display was completely damaged and a crack in-display diagonally. The first few days it went well but after some days it started giving me issues like - I was not able to touch some keys of the keyboard (Especially the WhatsApp send button ☺️), also I was not able to pull the notification panel from upside, ...etc. So many times I need to make a mobile landscape and use it as some part of the screen was damaged. So I found some hacks/ways, which was a bit helpful for me in this situation. so I thought to write an article for you people which will help you if your mobile phone display gets a break.

   One can say why you didn't change the display?? right. But as it was COVID-19 Lockdown no one was allowed to go outside and it was not safe also, shops were not open. I was in my hometown which is a gaon, not a city so I used the devices with some techniques yes yes you can call it as "JUGAD" 

The broken phone screen can be classified into two categories:

1. Slightly Broken: where the touch glass is not shattered and is in operable condition. 
2. Completely Shattered: where nothing is visible and is inoperable.

 

These hacks will help you in the case of #1. 

So here are some hacks/ways to use a mobile phone with some damaged display. 

 

1. Use mobile with changing orientation (Landscape or portrait mode )-

 

You can use your phone with changing the orientation. so you can make use of the working part of your display.

Yes, some apps do not support landscape or portrait mode. But you can force such apps to rotate landscape or in portrait mode using some apps like Rotation Control. Rotation Control is easy to use and can be downloaded for free from Google Play.

 

2. Use one-handed mode -

 

Many smartphones have the feature of one-handed mode. One-Handed Mode lets you reach your status bar and action bar of any app without having to stretch your hand. It does this by moving the entire screen down to a smaller window. This app uses a floating, movable bubble that toggles One-Handed Mode whenever it is pressed.

 

How to enable One-handed mode 

 

1. Go to Settings.
2. Select Advanced Features.
3. Toggle One-handed mode on.
4. Go into One-handed mode to select whether you want to access this mode via a gesture or tapping on the home button 3 times.

 

3. Make use of speech to text feature- 

 

This feature allows you to type without touching the screen. 

 

Turn Voice Input On / Off - Android

1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon > Settings then tap "Language & input" or "Language & keyboard". ...
2.  From the On-screen keyboard, tap Google Keyboard/Gboard. ...
3. Tap Preferences.
4. Tap the Voice input key switch to turn on or off.

 
 
 

4. Quick Access Ball (Xiaomi users)

 

 

This feature is available in Xiaomi phones in MIUI 8.

How to turn Quick Ball Feature On-

 

1. Launch “Settings” from the App drawer in the Xiaomi smartphone.
2. Click the “Additional Settings” option from “Settings”.
3. Quick Ball feature can be found after tapping “Additional Settings”.
4. Just click and tap on to enable Quick Ball.  

 
 5. Make use of OTG

     Yes, OTG is also an useful thing in such situation. You can use OTG to connect external keyboard and mouse. (Yes, it may drain your battery faster).

 

    With the above-given hacks, you can access your phone for days. still, I would like to suggest that use your mobile phone with these hacks in the very extreme case and do not use broken display mobile for long because it may harm your figure with its tiny glass pieces.
